As Vice President – Customer Service and Sales of Gulf Power Company, Wendell Smith is responsible for Customer Service, Marketing, and Community and Economic Development.
He most recently was the Vice President – Power Delivery at Gulf Power, responsible for Distribution, Transmission, Supply Chain Management and the Safety and Training organizations.
Smith served as the first Southern Company executive to participate in the PowerSecure Loaned Executive Program representing Gulf Power. He operated as the Senior Vice President of Operations for the Southwest Region within their Utility Services business from July through December 2016 before returning to his role at Gulf Power. Before coming to Gulf Power, Smith served as Distribution Engineering, Construction and Maintenance general manager for Georgia Power.
He is a member of Southeastern Electric Exchange Executive Committee, a member of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies Committee on Power Delivery and Vice Chair, Gulf Power Foundation. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Pensacola MESS Hall.
Smith is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He and his wife Beth have three children: Virginia, Rachel and Paul.
